Pros:

Perhaps the strongest point for the Dell Vostro 1720 is its total flexibility. As mentioned earlier, you can select the features you want the 1720 to have. The configurations you can choose from are numerous, so your needs will be matched perfectly. However, basic configuration includes an Intel Celeron 900 processor and a 160-gigabyte SATA hard disk drive. There is also an option to upgrade to a unit with a Core 2 Duo T9550 processor running on 2.66 GHz. This configuration has a 128 Gigabyte Solid State Drive, among others.

Graphics wise, you get to choose from the standard built-in Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD or the gaming-friendly NVidia GeForce 9600M GS. This allows you to play some games on the 1720. You can, however, do video editing, photo editing and some heavy processing with this configuration.

The 1720 also comes from an extra large 17-inch screen. This screen outputs a maximum resolution of 1920×1000. This resolution allows users to put up several windows together for easy reference and multi-tasking.

The 1720 also comes with a very sensitive set of keyboards and touch pad. Users will be delighted at how easy it is to use and work with the Dell Vostro 1720.

Cons:

One thing that the users will probably gripe about the 1720 is its weight. It is remarkably heavier than most of the other Dell Vostro models even at budget configuration. At basic setup, the 1720 can weight up to 6.8 pounds. Clearly buyers will find it very uncomfortable to carry around, but this weight is justified due to its configurations and components.

The񎢸 also lacks the capability for connecting to an external display device, like a television. This is due to the absence of a digital video output. For those that plan to use external hard drives, they would be disappointed to find that the 1720 lacks an eSATA port as well.

Conclusion:

Despite its weaknesses in weight and the lack of certain ports, the 1720 still has enough features to satisfy the average computer user. Its processing power makes it very ideal for industrial and office use, which more than makes up for its weight as the 1720 would certainly be continuously plugged to a power outlet.
